Free-up space

After backing-up data for some time, you may want to free up storage space. Langmeier Backup Software carries a feature which allows you to free-up storage space for backups easily, avoiding the need for new, bigger storage media.

Click on Extras > Free-up space... to show the window.

Hint: The window "Free-up space" will also display when clicking on REPEAT on the message "Insufficient free capacity on media".

Remove Deleted Files

Using this feature you can find files which have been moved, copied or deleted from the original place, but which are still on the backup.

If you have moved the files, these have probably been backed-up from their new location. The Assistant will indicate these files as deleted at their original place. Usually, such files can be removed without problems. In general you will not need files on the backup where you have deleted the original. Take precaution in case you have recently deleted files, as you may still need some of them and want to be able to recover these from the backup.

Before the Assistant deletes any files it will list them. You can then check and tick each individual files you wish to remove from the backup process.

Remove superseded files

Activating the History-function in your backup allows you to delete older file versions through the Assistant. The Assistant can also be instructed to remove files older than a user defined age or, alternatively, the user may delete historic files at once.
